Who We Fund

Education

  • The Chuck Reed Endowed Journalism Scholarship awards an annual $1,000 scholarship to a Central High School graduating senior exploring the world of creative writing, journalism, or communications.

Our first scholarship recipient is pictured below with Chuck’s daughter, Olivia, and friends, Holly and Henry. All have graduated from Central High School.

Wellness

  • Not only is heart disease the leading cause of death for men, it is also the leading cause of death for women. For nearly 100 years, the American Heart Association has been fighting heart disease and stroke and helping families and communities thrive.

  • On World Heart Day 2023, the Chuck Reed Memorial Fund made a contribution to the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation to support their important work in heart disease prevention.

Environment

  • SPARK’s Fabric Lab has been hard at work creating the North Omaha Trail which will provide a critical transportation, economic, recreational, and public health link in the community. Chuck was passionate about trail development and planting natives - two things this project is all about.

  • Walking the course on his own or playing with his kids - Chuck absolutely loved the disc golf course at Kenue Park in Okoboji, IA. We sponsor a hole in Chuck’s name, keeping his presence on the course.
